The QuickTime VR Team is happy to provide you with the QuickTime VR player, the Apple Company Store sample, other samples, and free tools for use in creating QuickTime VR content. ABOUT THE TOOLS
Use the content you create with the free tools in your Web site, CD-ROM title, or other multimedia project. These are unsupported, beta-level tools to introduce you to creating content with QuickTime VR. However, they are functional and powerful enough to create "real" content for commercial use as well. These tools do two things:
-- Make QTVR Object makes a QuickTime VR object from a series of PICTs saved as frames in a QuickTime movie. The source images can be photographs or computer-generated input from a 3D program. Use Make QTVR Object to create QuickTime VR objects for use on the Web, in CD-ROM titles, or elsewhere.
-- Make QTVR Panorama makes a QuickTime VR panorama from a single PICT image. The source image can be a scanned-in panoramic photograph or a panoramic image generated from within a 3D program. Use Make QTVR Panorama to create QuickTime VR panoramas for use in Web sites, in CD-ROM titles, or elsewhere.
For fully functional QuickTime VR authoring, you will need the QuickTime VR Authoring Tools Suite. Information about it is available at the QuickTime VR Web site at the URL below. The Authoring Tools Suite has more options for both panoramas and objects. It also creates panoramic images from separate photographs, a process called "stitching," and assigns hot spots to QuickTime VR content.
